Wooden shaft / Cherry blossom
The barrel of the Limited Edition 2024 is made with Japanese cherry blossoms.
The Japanese cherry tree, which is also mentioned in the Kojiki, is a venerable tree that has been used since ancient times for divination to predict important futures, and its flower meanings include "opening up destiny," "purity," and "lasting love."
With the superb writing experience of KOKUYO WP, we hope that users will be able to carve out their own destiny by writing down their thoughts as they wish. We hope that users will be able to express their pure feelings in their purest form.

The wood processing is carried out in collaboration with Karimoku Furniture Co., Ltd.
Our approach to Japan's forests, which are diverse and limited in number, and our manufacturing process, which combines advanced machinery and the handiwork of skilled craftsmen, brings out the beauty of wood.
We view the rich characteristics of cherry wood, such as the "gum pockets," as evidence of the strength and gentleness that has allowed it to survive in nature, and we carefully craft each piece.

The charm of cherry blossoms is enhanced by the unique appearance of "gum pockets" and "sapwood." Gum pockets and pisflech are dark brown streaks that appear on the surface of the wood. They are hardened resin that seeps out to repair gaps and scratches that occur during the tree's growth. These streaks tell the story of the cherry blossom's vitality and growth history.
Another characteristic of cherry wood is that the color of the core wood, which is the center of the wood, and the sapwood on the periphery are very different. In lumber cut from the periphery, the contrast between the deep red of the core wood and the pale white of the sapwood, called "sapwood," further accentuates the beauty of the cherry wood.

The cap has fine grooves carved at random intervals using a technique called "shaper cut," reminiscent of tree bark.
In addition, the barrels, both wooden and metal, are programmed to reproduce the uneven cutting marks that are reminiscent of hand-crafted crafts, and each one is carefully carved out over a long period of time.

Just like the wooden shaft, we were conscious of the beauty of its irregularity and created a design reminiscent of a piece of jewelry.
Fine grooves are carved into the cap at random intervals using a technique called "shaper cut."
In addition, a program has been used to recreate the uneven cutting marks on the body that give it a sense of wobble, and each piece is carefully carved out over a long period of time.
The sharp edges of the aluminium stand out, giving it a luxurious feel.
